She is in bliss, enjoying her marital life and being a busy mother of two kids, but here is a role that even Madhuri Dixit can’t turn down. Filmmaker Krishna Shah has announced his global epic on the late Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, and he can’t think of anyone else but Mads for the title role.

According to Variety magazine, the Golden Globe nominated Krishna Shah has been penning the script of the film ‘Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story’ for the last 23 years and now plans to bring it to the big screen by the end of 2011. He has even done extensive research on Indira Gandhi from published as well as unpublished material, interviewed various politicians, journalists, bureaucrats, writers, military men and Indira Gandhi’s contemporaries, according to a daily.

Referring to the two part movie based upon the fearless lady of Indian politics, Shah says, “A whole new generation has grown and matured since Indira’s assassination and it is the role of art to create and connect between people and their history and legacy.”

Other actors who are likely to act in the film are Nana Patekar as Jaiprakash Narayan, Dharmendra as Motilal Nehru, and Abhay Deol as Rajiv Gandhi. From Hollywood, Tom Hanks has been approached to play the US President Lyndon B Johnson and also Tom Lee Jones for the role of Richard Nixon.

No doubt, the director is on his way to create a grand casting coup to reflect the reputation of the grand dame of Indian politics.
