Widely renowned Hollywood actors
Tom Hanks and Tommy Lee Jones have been roped in for Krishna Shah’s Movie on former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
These Hollywood Stars are set to share screen with well-known Bollywood actors--Dharmendra, Abhay Deol and Nana Patekar. The movie will be produced by Shah’s company Movie Moghuls.
Bollywood actor Madhuri Dixit will be essaying the role of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in this two-part biopic by Golden Globe-nominated filmmaker Krishna Shah.
Better known for his establishment of the trademark concept of ‘‘crossover” films with his 70s thriller Shalimar starring Rex Harrison, Shah has sent an email announcement stating, “The movie would be shot in India, US, Pakistan and Russia.”
However, in the email, Shah did not reveal the estimated budget, which is expected to be around Rs 200-300 crore, and the names of the other top actors who have been approached for other significant roles.
Shah added, “This is the most ambitious project of my life. We are looking at a scale of Sir Attenborough’s Gandhi and are in conversations with various Bollywood and Hollywood studios to fund the production.”
Shah, who had penned the script for the film “Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story”, said, “I met Indira Gandhi twice, once as a student in America and then in India as a filmmaker and have followed her career all through my life. In 2001, a BBC
poll which voted her as the woman of the millennium kind of inspired me to make this film.”
The regular shooting of the film would begin in April in India, and Shah also plans to shoot some parts in the U.S, UK, and Russia.
“It is an exciting, dramatic story. The canvas of her life is too big to be contained in one film,” Shah said, adding that the film would have no songs and would be different from Bollywood style.
His movie-directing credits include films like Hard Rock
Zombies, American Drive IN, Cinema Cinema and Shalimar,
One of his latest projects is the animated movie
“The Prince of Light”, slated for release in the coming year.
