While one may or may not agree with the aesthetics of the walls Saif Ali Khan paints for an ad, in real life he has a keen eye for paintings. On a recent visit to Hyderabad to promote his new film Kurbaan, his eye was suddenly caught by a painting by Sachin Jaltare in the five-star hotel lobby. This was a painter his mother has several paintings by at their homes in Pataudi and Delhi.
Confirming the story Saif said that what he loves about Jaltare’s paintings is the way they show the feminine face in a divine way. “He paints devotional women and one of the paintings even reminded me of a Kurbaan poster,” he said. “The paintings are beautiful and peaceful and I can look at them for hours.” Saif has been collecting art for years but these are his first of Jaltare. “Art is a good investment too,” he quips. While Saif will find place for these two paintings in his current home, “they are basically for my new home,” he says.
