...said the famous personality Neil Young. Well, this couldn't have been more true today as superstar Aamir Khan lost his father Tahir Hussain today. Life (or is it death?) just cannot be more cruel than this one. While on one hand, where Aamir khan was riding sky high on the success of the massive hit flick 3 Idiots, on the other hand, tragedy strikes the Khan household and how!

Aamir Khan's father Tahir Hussain suffered a massive heart attack. Aamir's brother Faisal Khan and mother are at the star's residence, while, Aamir and his wife Kiran Rao, who are in Los Angeles, will be coming back to Mumbai tomorrow afternoon. The funeral is likely to be held tomorrow evening. For the uninitiated lot, the legendary Tahir Hussain has produced films like Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Anamika (1973), Caravan (1973) and had directed the Aamir-Juhi starrer Tum Mere Ho in the year 1990. It's a little known fact that he had also acted in a couple of films like Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai (1998), and Pyar Ka Mausam (1969).

With the passing of Tahir Hussain, Bollywood has lost yet another gem of a personality. We at Bollywood Hungama pray that his soul rests in eternal peace.

MUMBAI: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan bagged the Best Actor trophy for his portrayal of a 13-year-old progeria affected child in 'Paa', while Aamir
Khan starrer '3 Idiots' was adjudged the Best Film of 2009 at the 16th annual Screen Awards held here.

Vidya Balan, who played Amitabh's mother in 'Paa' was the Best Actress. Apart from the Best Film Award, '3 Idiots' also got Rajkumar Hirani the Best Director award.

Arundati Nag bagged the Best Supporting Actress (Paa), while Pratik got the Best Child Actor award for his portrayal of Vishnu, Auro's best friend, in the same film.

Rishi Kapoor was the Best Supporting Actor for his role of a film director in Zoya Akhtar's 'Luck By Chance'.

Omi Vaidya walked away with the Best Comedian and Best Debutant awards for '3 Idiots', while Boman Irani was named as the Best Actor in a Negative role for the same film.

A R Rahman was the Best Music Director for 'Delhi-6', while lyricist Javed Akhtar was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the function held last night at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex.

'3 Idiots', which broke all box office records, dominated the show with eight awards (Best Film, Director, Comedian, Debutante, Villain, Choreography, Screenplay, Dialogues) followed by "Paa" with five (Best Actor, Actress, Child Actor, Supporting Actress and the Jodi no 1 award for Amitabh and Abhishek).

Kareena Kapoor ('Kurbaan', '3 Idiots') and Shahid Kapur ('Kaminey') got the popular choice awards, while Katrina Kaif was named the Entertainer of the Year.

The show was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapur, R Madhavan, and Omi Vaidya.

Actors Salman Khan, Bipasha Basu, Shahid Kapur performed to their hit numbers but the highlight of the evening was the 'Auro' dance done together on stage by Amitabh, Abhishek, Shah Rukh and Shahid.

The first look of 'Teen Patti' was also revealed on the occasion.

In the Marathi film awards category, 'Mi Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy' was named as the Best Marathi Film of 2009, while Sachin Khedekar bagged the Best Actor trophy for the same film.

Jyoti Chandekar received the Best Actress award for her role in 'Sukhant', which dealt with the issue of mercy killing.

Renuka Shahane received the Best Director award for her debut film 'Rita'.

In India 1550 prints in over 1760 screens and overseas 342 prints in over 366 screens; this is the widest release any Hindi film has had in India and overseas. The film was released in over 40 countries.

The paid previews of 3 Idiots itself garnered over Rs 9 crs gross worldwide; this is above Ghajini’s paid previews collection of Rs 7 crs gross worldwide.

3 Idiots weekend collection is Rs 93 crs gross worldwide till Sunday night which is 30 % percent more than Ghajini ’s collection.

Also the collection figures pouring in from the USA and Canada shows the biggest opening weekend ever for a Hindi film.

In UK (not considered as Aamir Khan’s market), the film has surpassed all films and reached just below Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna , an all time hit; that too during Christmas, when all theatres shut down and the business has only been for two days.

Elaborating on his ''Disguise'' tour, Aamir today told newsjpersons: ''The last place were I visited was Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu, where a small girl recognised me, but I was not able to make friends with her.'' He said, ''For tomorrow's film premier Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra had invited Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and others. but I invited only my 24 friends, I made during my journey across the country''.

''Every time we do same things to promote our film, but this time I felt some unique idea should be adopted for the marketing of '3 Idiots','' the actor, who visited temples and walked the streets like a common man in ordinary clothes and a little disguise, explained. Interestingly, before moving to some other secret locations in disguise, Aamir also located his mother Zeenat's childhood abode in the city and even expressed his desire to buy the building from its present , a Sikh gentleman. 2. The choreography of ‘All Izz Well’ [Avit Dias] and ‘Zoobie Doobie’ [Bosco-Caesar] is pleasant.. The background score [Sanjay Wandrekar, Atul Raninga, Shantanu Moitra] is apt

3. Muraleedharan C.K.’s cinematography is stunning, the scenes of Shimla and Ladakh are perfectly captured

Performance in 3 idiots

3 Idiots is beautified with some towering performances. Sharman Joshi is super brilliant, Madhavan really keeps you on your toes especially in sequences when he explains to his father, his point of view Boman Irani is wonderful as the head of the engineering institute. Boman Irani comes up with a performance that is on par with his scintiallating performance as Asthana in Munnabhai MBBS. Kareena Kapoor’s role is small but she gives maximum impact. Omi is sure to be a hit with audience. Jaffed Jafferi and Pareekshit Sahani put in noteworthy performances. Finally, we have the icing on this sweet cake-Aamir Khan. He may have come up with brilliant performances through his career, but Aamir Khan’s performance in 3 Idiots is the best. He breathes, looks and performs like a 25 year old. He proves that no one is close to him when it comes to pitching in a mindblowing performance.

Industrialist Mukesh Ambani threw a party in honor of ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Well-known personalities from various walks of life were present at the party.
