February 27, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Bollywood music-composers have to often go through grilling on whether a track is rip-off of an already composed song. And latest in the news is 'Dil Le Jaa' (Toh Baat Pakki) which according to some critics resemble ‘Yaara Dhol Bajake' (Dhol) a lot.

However, there is someone associated with the music of ‘Toh Baat Pakki’ who rubbishes all the allegations and he is none other than lyricist of the film- Shabbir Ahmed.

Shabbir gives an explanation, supporting Pritam Chakraborty and says, “No, that’s not true; look there are just seven musical notes and chances of two songs to sound a bit similar is bound to happen. That doesn’t mean- it is a rip-off. For instance, take the case A.R Rahman composition ‘Chiggy Wiggy’ from ‘Blue’. Would it be right to say- it is a rip-off of ‘Akela Hai Mr. Khiladi Miss. Khiladi Chahiye’ (Mr. And Mrs. Khiladi) though the tune is quite similar? Definitely a big no! Same goes for all songs which sound alike, including 'Dil Le Jaa'.”

Wonder, what critics and ‘aam janta’ has to say on Shabbir Ahmed’s remarks now!
