Feb 2, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): It turned out to be an unexpected weekend as the most anticipated film ‘Goa’ dashed downs the hopes of film buffs. With Venkat Prabhu’s previous films ‘Chennai 600028’ and ‘Saroja’ making it big on box office, producer Soundarya Rajinikanth diverted in all the resources to this project, now with unfavorable reviews the box-office collections have taken a freefall resulting in empty theaters.

Meanwhile Dayanidhi Azhagiri’s ‘Thamizh Padam’ has witnessed a grand opening with huge collections during first weekend. The film is directed by debutant Amudhan and features RJ-turned-actor Shiva in lead role. Since, the film happened to be a spoof played on various commercial movies of Tamil Cinema; audiences were completely enthralled and were riveted with the outrageous burlesque.

According to trade analysts, they have predicted that the film will do an extraordinary business till this weekend, which is more than enough for the producers as they walk away happily to the bank with great box-office collections.
