Shooting wildlife is not an easy task. It has endless dangers and risks, equipment malfunction issues to rampage by wild animals. The market for wildlife documentaries and films featuring animals continues to grow each day, with world class satellite channels telecasting and capturing audiences’ interest.

Among the really talented photographers is Alphonse Roy who is renowned for his bravery while filming a tiger catching its prey. Having graduated from Chennai Tharamani Film Institute, Alphonse showed interest on wildlife instead of cinema, right from his early days. With Alphonse’s previous commitments with the National Geographic Channel he has had to turn down quite a few of the leading directors including Mani Ratnam and Ram Gopal Varma for their projects.

However, he will now be the cinematographer for director Mani Ratnam’s one-time associate, Sudha’s film, Dhrogi. Alphonse will work for Amitabh Bachchan’s home production, ABCL, after he’s done with Dhrogi.
