Director James Cameron wins the Best Director award
James Cameron’s "Avatar" scooped 2 Golden Globes at the prestigious Awards ceremony yesterday.
Avatar beat other nominees "Up in the Air", "The Hurt Locker", "Inglourious Basterds" and "Precious" for the Best Picture award.
"A very big thank you. Thank you for believing in blue people. I also want to thank the fabulous crew that made this film possible," said producer Jon Landau.
“Avatar’ asks us to see that everything is connected, all human beings to each other, and us to the Earth. And if you have to go four and a half light years to another, made-up planet to appreciate this miracle of the world that we have right here, well, you know what, that’s the wonder of cinema right there, that’s the magic,” Cameron said.
The film that has till now grossed over $1.6 billion at the international box office, is now competing with Cameron’s own ‘Titanic’ for the worldwide highest grossing film of all time.
The award was given by three time Golden Globe winner actress Julia Roberts.
