Mumbai, Dec 22 : Bollywood actress Lisa Ray, putting up a determined battle with cancer, today said she was in the final leg of her treatment for "Multiple Myelona", a rare and incurable cancer of white blood cells.
She was diagnosed with cancer on June 23 and she started her first leg of treatment on July 2.
37-year-old Lisa, based in Toronto, starred in Deepa Mehta's "Water" and Vikram Bhatt's "Kasoor", after a successful modelling career.
"There has been such a constant outpouring of love and generosity since I began the 'Yellow Diaries'," she wrote on her blog.
"The survival rates are improving as with an ever expanding toolbox of treatments and awareness, this cancer can be beaten and cured," Lisa concludes.
"Myelona" is a relatively new cancer of the bone marrow that affects Canadians, at least ten thousand of them every year.
