Kannada film superstar, Vishnuvardhan who died early in the morning following a heart attack received a tearful farewell from thousands of people late Wednesday


Vividly essayed varied roles were a staple for this 60-year-old actor, who portrayed an angry young man to a respected family head, was given a state funeral, and attended by family members, political leaders, film personalities and tens of thousands of fans.


Among his hits, 'Bandhana', 'Suprabhatha', 'Laali', 'Muththina Haara' and 'Maathaad Maathaad Mallige' his other hit films were 'Aaptha Mithra' and 'Nagarahaavu'.


Vishnuvardhan acted in 199 films and won many prestigious awards including seven best state actor awards and five Filmfare awards.


Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa granted Rs.10 crore, and two acres at the Abhiman Studios, and according to him a memorial would be built in consultation with the actor's family members. Among many stars that paid him homage, Akshay Kumar remembers his interactions with Vishnuvardhan for Ashaant, the Hindi remake of the Kannada original.
